NAB raids Bahria Town – National Accountability Bureau, Capital Development Authority, and local police conducted a raid on Tuesday at the office of property tycoon Malik Riaz’s Bahria Town in Rawalpindi. The officials, including a 16-member team from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), seized documents related to the Al Qadir Trust case during the operation.
Despite a statement from a NAB spokesperson declining to comment further on the raid, it was revealed that the office was surrounded by NAB and police personnel, with Islamabad Police stationed outside. After conducting a search for approximately 1.5 hours, the NAB team sealed the corporate head offices of Bahria Town.
This raid occurred shortly after Malik Riaz’s statement asserting his refusal to succumb to pressure tactics, mentioning that he was facing pressure to compromise.
NAB raids Bahria Town office
A team from the National Accountability Bureau has conducted a raid on Bahria Town office in Rawalpindi. The raid was reportedly aimed at obtaining records related to Al-Qader Trust University.
Accompanied by Punjab Police and Elite Force personnel, the joint team arrived at Bahria Town’s office in Phase 2. Sources indicate that the NAB team has sealed the housing society’s office and conducted searches in various sections, questioning staff members.
This action follows a court directive for Bahria Town to transfer Rs 65 billion to the central and Sindh governments, including funds from the UK and locally collected money. These funds, linked to a £190 million case investigated by NAB, have implicated Malik Riaz, who denied any political affiliations or manipulation by any party.
He asserted a commitment to standing with the truth amid the recent raids on Bahria Town Rawalpindi offices.
